What Do You Do When the Travel Industry Breaks Up With You

How I transitioned from the Travel Industry into the Health & Wellness world

Have you ever been so in love that when you get dumped you are blind-sided and feel like your whole world has fallen apart? The first time it happened to me, it led me to be on a reality tv show but that is for another article!

I am talking about my love for the travel industry and being broken up with over social media and the news was devastating.

I have been in love with the travel industry since 1994 and I am fortunate that I have had a very exciting career with many trips of a lifetime. The biggest impact on my career and life was going to live and work in Afghanistan where I booked travel for the Canadian troops in Kabul. That experience led me to quit my full-time job and start up as an Independent Travel Agent with no customers and no other income…gulp.

It was the best decision I ever made as it led me to build relationships with wonderful clients and a beautiful travel family with the travel agency I worked through. They have been my family for the past 16 years and I even married one of them!

The last trip I took was to the fabulous Four Seasons on the island of Nevis in the Caribbean, I landed back in Toronto on March 07, 2020 and my life was never going to be the same again. I returned to an industry that was now just clients cancelling trips, including all of the trips for March break that I had spent months working on. I was in reactive mode and working diligently to cancel and assist in getting them refunds where we could. I was also having to return all of the commissions I’d earned, paying them back to the airlines and suppliers. It was like a bad divorce and having to pay alimony to the travel industry that was my love for so long. Once March finished and my clients were taken care of, I had a good cry and looked at my 5-year-old who is relying on me to provide for her. Now, it was wonderful that I married someone from my travel family but that also meant that both of us had lost our business.

If I have learned anything from my life, it was that if you get knocked down, you get up again (thank you Chumbawamba). I was determined not to let this break my spirit and felt like this was a sign to enter into a new chapter. I have always been passionate about holistic health and wellness with frequent visits to Osteopaths, Acupuncturists and Network Chiropractic (work with the energy of your spine).

In 2019, I had purchased a water ionizer that is a medical device in Japan (No. 1 country in the world for longest living humans) that produces a super healthy drinking water. I bought this machine for my family’s health and it did more then get rid of my migraines and my daughter’s constipation issues, it gave me hope for a new business venture.

I reached out to others who were already successful with this water business and my eyes were opened up to a whole new world and I knew I was on the right path.

I have spent the last three years on a new wellness journey learning about our true hydration, Live Blood Analysis, toxins especially pesticides and EMF (Electro Magnetic Fields), and how they affect our health, but most importantly, what we can do to protect ourselves.

I could have easily given up and blamed the pandemic for the breakup with the travel industry, but my passion to find true health for my family and for others has been an amazing journey and has renewed my excitement about being self-employed and now what I know about our health I am very excited to share what I have learned with everyone.

Stay tuned for some great health information and I know this next chapter in my life is going to be fabulous!
